Providing automated access
to individual vials stored at ultra low temperatures, the BIOPHILE
Individual Vial Retriever (IVR) extends the advantages of laboratory
automation to many drug discovery, repository, and other life science
applications. Using robotics technology, the IVR performs storage,
retrieval, sorting, cataloging, volume estimation (weighing), barcode
reading, and reracking on a vial-by-vial basis, while preserving
frozen samples at their optimal temperatures. With the BIOPHILE
IVR, life science laboratories working at ultra low temperatures
can achieve dramatically higher throughput, maintain sample integrity
and quality, ensure accurate, precise sample picking, and improved
vial security.

| Automation Technology - Built on the
automation technology of the BIOPHILE, the IVR combines two BIOPHILE
Storage Units with a Vial Handler to achieve unprecedented sample
processing capabilities
BIOPHILE, Inc.'s Individual Vial Retriever, to be launched in
February 2003, will provide automated access to individual vials
stored at -80 C. The IVR is optimized for drug discovery and repository
use. Work lists can be issued to the IVR overnight, allowing the
system to present batches of 'cherry-picked' samples at a moment's
notice. The IVR does all of this while keeping your samples secure
and at temperature.
Automated storage and retrieval of individual vials
at temperatures down to -80°C
Capacity of approximately 22,572 1.8 mL cryovials in BIOPHILE
racks
Sample volume estimated accurately to 1uL
Cycle time: less than 20 seconds per vial
(includes barcode reading, weighing, and re-racking)
Scalable automation platform
Stable sample temperatures
Frost virtually eliminated

Information Technology - Improves sample security, tracking, reporting
and overall quality assurance
Controlled access, group and individual password protection
Chain of custody and sample history logged
Compatible with plate stackers, plate movers, LIMS and other system integrations.
Remote access capability for work lists, as well as alarming and backup
refrigeration
